Professional Vision
"Successful is the person who has lived well, laughed often and loved much, who has gained the respect of children, who leaves the world better than they found it, who has never lacked appreciation for the earth's beauty, who never fails to look for the best in others or give the best of themselves."
Welcome to the School District of Horicon!
As I begin my fifth year as superintendent of The School District of Horicon, I am pleased with what we have accomplished together during these years. I believe the School District of Horicon is on a growth path in many areas to include; academics, student enrollment, and additional opportunities for our students and community through the use of the new campus. A few highlights are:
- The school district’s academic performance has improved in every school since 2016 and am proud to be a school district that was identified as a school in need of improvement to one that now exceeds expectations for our student performance on the state report card.
- The school district continues to remain fiscally responsible as we work to create opportunities for our students to grow and excel through our curriculum and extracurricular activities without a large tax increase to our constituents.
- The new campus has created a new learning environment that we can all be proud of and our students can enjoy the new, bright, and state of the art facility that will reduce our overall operational costs with new HVAC and LED efficiency lights throughout. The total package with additions of $28,000,000 has had less than the proposed mil rate tax impact on our community.
- The sale of the Van Brunt Elementary School has kept an icon in this community open to be repurposed and to provide much needed affordable housing in a beautiful setting. The $1.6 million that we gained from this sale has been placed back into upgrades to the high school and for future projects.
- Enrollment has remained steady and is slowly increasing. I do anticipate with future housing opportunities, beautiful facilities, incredible staff, and the positive reputation that the School District of Horicon and the community of Horicon has that we will continue to grow.
- This past year held our district Strategic Planning sessions, involving members of our community, district, staff, and students that developed goals and strategies for our school district. The work of this committee developed plans to provide a strategy to meet the desires and goals for our schools for decades to come.
We are very proud of our accomplishments at Horicon. We do have expectations to continue to improve and grow by continuing to create a safe and enjoyable place to work and to learn. Together, we will continue to build upon the rich tradition of our School District, and express the deep values that define us as Marshmen.
If you are interested in our school district and knowing more about us, myself or any of my administrative team would be glad to meet with you and show you our beautiful schools. Come and join us and see what makes us unique in how we prepare our students for the future.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. I can be reached at 920-485-2898 or by email.
I am a Marshmen!
