Welcome to the School District of Horicon Food Service Program.
Our mission is to serve healthy fresh meals using scratch cooking when possible. We believe in setting the standard for healthy meals that taste great. Serving all grades out of one cafeteria ensures we are able to offer a fresh fruit and vegetable bar for students in grades 4K-12. Menus can be found monthly on our food service page along with our farm-to-school partners. Students use a scannable ID card to access their lunch account.
We offer a CEP free breakfast and lunch for grades 4K-12. CEP is Community Eligibility Provision. Click here to understand what this means.
Food Service Payments:
Payments can be paid electronically using a program called e-Funds For Schools, or by check, or by cash. This program offers various options for parents/guardians who choose to make payments online and is extremely user-friendly. You have the flexibility to have your payments electronically withdrawn from your checking account or charged to your credit card. Please use the e-Funds link to electronically deposit money into your child's account. When paying by check or by cash, we recommend paying by check for your records, but cash is accepted. Please put money in an envelope with your child's full name and grade. It may be dropped into one of the two drop boxes located in the cafeteria and middle school.
The e-Funds For Schools electronic payment service is provided to the school by a third-party service provider. The service provider has a nominal fee for their service. There is a $1.50 transaction convenience fee for each electronic checking payment that you make. The system carries a Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) charge if the payment is returned insufficiently. If you use e-Funds to deposit money on lunch accounts or to pay school fees, NSF (non-sufficient funds) are not retried, meaning the payments that come back NSF will go uncollected and e-Funds will NOT attempt another payment. If you have an NSF situation, you will be contacted by the respective school secretary or by the Food Service Director. Families will be given notice of the NSF and an opportunity for the payer to make a proper payment or to arrange for a satisfactory payment schedule. For payments made by credit or debit card, there is a transaction convenience fee of $2.95 per $100 increments (amounts subject to change). Note that transaction fees are charged per transaction, not per student. Example: Joey, Johnny, and Jill's fees that are paid at the same time are considered one transaction.` When you set up your account, please review your options carefully. The district does not request or keep records of family checking or credit card account information.
You are the only one in control of your account and can make a payment at any time that is convenient for you. No payments will be allowed without your knowledge and authorization through this secure payment system. By providing your home and/or work email address, an email notification informing you of the student's name, the purpose of the payment, and the amount of the item will be sent to you each time that a payment is to be processed. The efunds For Schools site is secure and uses industry-standard data encryption.
How does efunds For Schools work?
- Families can set up and maintain their own login, password, and payment preferences. Each student's School ID # will be required for account set-up. Your account information is retained in a password-protected file.
- efunds For Schools will help to eliminate last minute check writing hassles, improve efficiency and help cut costs for both you and the school district.
- Payments from a credit card or checking account may easily be set up.
- Parents/guardians may establish a recurring payment or may opt to make a one-time payment. Note: make sure to turn off recurring payments during the summer and after your child graduates.
- In the future, the program will offer various types of payments to families that include, but are not limited to, instructional materials, yearbook fees, graduation fees and of course food service and school fee payments.
- Your payment history for the year is available with a click of the mouse.
Horicon Meal Charge Policy
Summer School:
Our district participates in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The SFSP is a federally funded program that reimburses program operators who serve free healthy meals during summer school. Any child 18 and under, regardless if they attend summer school, may come to the school cafeteria for a free breakfast and lunch.
