Horicon School District’s Sword Field Athletic Complex, built in 2022, is a state-of-the-art facility that includes an eight-lane track and cutting-edge track and field equipment, a turf football field, and all the amenities that go along with it, such as a modernized scoreboard with sound system, concession stand, restrooms, and press box.

Sword Field Athletic Complex is named for its major donor, Fred F. Schwertfeger (HHS 1961) and is supported by Sword Financial Corporation, established as the parent company of Horicon Bank by his father, Fred R. Schwertfeger (HHS 1929), a Horicon attorney and decorated WWII hero. The family name means sword-maker in German and embraces Fred F. Schwertfeger’s grandfather, who pastored in Horicon for forty years.
