Education-

I received my teaching degrees from The University of Wisconsin-Stout in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education. I will receive my Master’s degree in Literacy from Concordia University very soon.

Background-

I am not a person who wanted to a be a teacher my entire life and spent hours playing school as a child. I thought fashion design and interior decorating were more my style. Luckily for me, some of the parents I baby-sat for got together and pushed me toward education. I am thankful I chose this path!

I started my teaching career in Milwaukee. For 2 years I worked with a wonderful team of teachers, parents/guardians and students where I learned how to create a child centered environment that focused on the development of speech, language, social and academic skills. Next, I worked as a 3 year old teacher at a wonderful childcare center in Brookfield. Again, I worked with a caring team of teachers who taught me about the commitment to excellent childcare from birth. This experience developed a passion for continuing education and a taste of leadership. In 2007,  I was hired by the Horicon School District. I work with passionate educators who are helping me develop my teaching style, expanding my philosophies and show a commitment to every student every day. My positions in Horicon include; Early Childhood Special Education, 5K, Math Coach, 4K, and 1st grade. With guidance from administration and other area 4K programs, I developed the 4K curriculum and spent the majority of my time in Horicon teaching 4K, building relationships with families and the community. Last year, I embraced the fabulous 1st graders! I learned so much about building a solid academic foundation. This year, a new adventure awaits! I will be teaming up with teachers to develop plans for students who need a boost in their academic skills.

A little about me-

At the end of the day, I drive home to my busy family. My husband Ben and I have 3 children. Eliana is who has a passion for animals and art. Joey loves reading, gaming, and being with his friends. Addison is my peacekeeper and our comedian who loves everything but green vegetables and anything that smells weird. On the week-ends we like to go on our own “family fieldtrips”, play sports and games.
